let's play jazz today 01/11/05

Tuesday, time to play jazz, while i m working on translation of ASOUE.

first, but absolutely not the least, Jazz at Oberlin by the Dave Brubeck Quartet.

The most famous album by Dave Brubekc should be "Time out", but this one is also great, a live recording at Oberlin college.

其實，所謂的Dave Brubeck風格，有其中一大部分，是由薩克斯風手Paul Desmond貢獻的，本張專輯也不例外。鋼琴和薩克斯風輪流出場，鼓和貝斯在背後緩緩推進，是張聽來舒服的專輯。

裡面多是標準曲，但Dave and Paul就是能讓他們有自己的風格。比較讓人驚奇的有，第一首的These Foolish Things, Dave Brubeck的彈奏風格在中間突然激昂起來，頗讓我意外。

標準的搖擺曲風，由薩克斯風手Lester Young 和小喇叭手Harry Edison擔綱演出。那麼總統（Prez, president）是誰呢？就是Lester Young。同理可證， 糖果就是Harry Edison.
